This page lists what the Tennessee board of accountancy publishes for a CPA and a CPA firm: CPE hours and the reporting period, the ethics requirement, whether a firm permit or registration is required, whether peer review is required, the licence renewal cycle, and whether an out-of-state CPA may practise under a practice privilege.
It is built for owners of small accounting and bookkeeping firms, especially those licensed in one state and serving clients in another. Every entry is a snapshot of what the cited source published on the verification date; it is a research starting point, not licensing advice.

What to confirm.
(1) T.C.A. § 62-1-117 was read from the enacted public chapter (2025 Pub. Ch. 524, § 38) on publications.tnsosfiles.com; the codified Title 62 text is linked from the Board's Laws page only through Lexis and was not read, and Rule 0020-01-.13 (May 2024 revision) predates the rewrite. (2) The Board firm page says a permit is required for firms using "Accountant," "Accounting," or "CPA" in the firm name, while Rule 0020-01-.11(1) names attest services and the "CPAs," "CPA firm," "PAs," and "PA firm" titles; confirm with the Board whether a non-attest firm using "Accountant" or "Accounting" in its name needs a permit. (3) Board home page: "The Less is More Act of 2025 has opened a new pathway to obtaining your CPA license as of January 1, 2026" (Pathway 2: 120 hours of education and two years of experience). (4) The Secretary of State rules index lists Chapter 0020-05 (CPE) as the October 2021 revision and Chapter 0020-06 (peer review) as the September 2025 revision. The TDCI help-center FAQ (support.commerce.tn.gov) returned HTTP 403 on 2026-10-20 and was not read.
