[ 01 ]WHAT THIS PAGE ISSCOPE

This page lists what the Mississippi board of accountancy publishes for a CPA and a CPA firm: CPE hours and the reporting period, the ethics requirement, whether a firm permit or registration is required, whether peer review is required, the licence renewal cycle, and whether an out-of-state CPA may practise under a practice privilege.

It is built for owners of small accounting and bookkeeping firms, especially those licensed in one state and serving clients in another. Every entry is a snapshot of what the cited source published on the verification date; it is a research starting point, not licensing advice.

Confirm the rules edition in force and the approved ethics course list with the Board: the Board site hosts three editions of the Rules and Regulations ('Effective November 2024', 'Effective April 2026 FINAL - UPDATED' (found by search) and 'Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy Rules and Regulations Effective July 1 2026'; this row used the July 2026 PDF, whose pages are footed 'JULY 2026'), the statutes page heading still reads 'Effective 11/2024 - MSBPA Rules and Regs', and the homepage displays a banner 'Proposed Modifications to Chapter 2 of the Rules and Regulations' linking a marked-up PDF that was not read in this pass. Board news posted March 18, 2026 ('New CPA Pathway Effective 7/1/2026'): effective July 1, 2026 a new pathway requires 'a baccalaureate degree and 2 years' experience', the 150-semester-hour/one-year route is retained and a post-graduate-degree/one-year route is listed; §73-33-17(2) preserves practice privileges held on or before December 31, 2025. The CPE page does not itself state the August 1 reporting deadline; it comes from Rule 4.1.1 and the FAQ.
